Lightning TV Live

Changelog

A plain-English history of improvements to the viewing and match-night experience.

Current version v1.5.0-beta.18

  1. Version 1.5.0-beta.11

Account deletion and reusable email addresses

    • Authorised staff can permanently delete an account's sign-in from User management, with an account confirmation and recorded reason. Its login email is released for a new account, active streams and viewing grants stop, and linked review-panel membership and codes are revoked. Deleted accounts disappear from user search and cannot be restored. New accounts keep their own purchases, passes and marketing choices.
    • Protected order, refund, support, consent and viewing history stays linked to the deleted account ID for retention review. Historical snapshots can still contain personal details. Draft Privacy, Terms, Refund, Support and Accessibility guidance explains the deletion controls and retained history; deletion does not automatically refund an order.
  2. Version 1.5.0-beta.10

Account setup, passes and easier user management

    • Authorised staff can create an active viewer account with email approved for testing or on the account holder's behalf, or approve an existing account without opening its mailbox. Test accounts can receive a generated login address. Staff approval is labelled separately from verification by email link, with the staff member, purpose and reason recorded in account history and personal-data downloads. Account holders can change their password while signed in without using email.
    • Authorised staff can grant a complimentary pass directly from an account, using an existing pass's available games or selecting games individually. Grants support an optional expiry and record the staff member and reason for every game. Viewers find the games in My Passes; future additions need another grant and paid access remains separate.
    • User management now searches across all accounts for access managers, with separate staff and viewer views, account-status and email-verification filters, and sorting by name, newest account or recent sign-in. Search accepts names, email, username, account ID and watermark code. Account pages show viewing access and keep staff permissions in an expandable section.
    • Draft Terms, Privacy, Support and Accessibility guidance now explains complimentary account grants, their fixed game coverage, staff-approved account setup, audit records and the labelled account and game-selection controls. Creating an account for someone does not record their policy agreement or marketing consent.
  3. Version 1.5.0-beta.9

Launch readiness and clearer viewer tools

    • Cancelled and refunded orders now show the correct result. Viewers can recover pending confirmations from My passes, check an order reference and get help without losing the chosen fixture or pass.
    • Previous support cases are available from Account and My passes, with clear instructions for replying by email using the case reference. Purchase selectors use readable pass names and dates, and support links use the configured address. Draft Support and Refund guidance explains the recovery journey.
    • Stream recovery holds uncertain starts for safe operator review, prevents older background work from replacing newer recovery, and avoids creating another channel after a lost response. Production uses its configured AWS identity, and every published build must pass the complete application tests. Provider recovery and match-night rehearsals still need recorded evidence.
    • Shot reviewers can choose accurate rink locations with the keyboard, a visible marker and written coordinates. Live match statistics keep expanded details, keyboard focus and table positions as updates arrive.
    • Staff health warnings and review queue labels are easier to read, staff menus stay below the site header, and audit tables and export links work better with keyboards and voice controls. Account and staff forms connect guidance and validation messages to their fields. Draft Accessibility guidance describes the changes.
    • Operators can now check which playback, closed support and commerce records need a retention review without exposing customer content or deleting records. Draft Privacy guidance distinguishes diagnostic cleanup from controlled review of access and financial history; approval and disposal evidence are still required before launch.
    • Sign-in and personal-data downloads now accept the exact password created by the viewer, including spaces at either end. Account password guidance is connected to its fields for screen readers.
    • The live match centre and stats page now have NHL-inspired Summary, Box Score and Play-by-Play views, team-coloured comparison bars, a visual shot breakdown, period scoring and compact team sheets. Event timelines show team logos, period and clock labels with readable descriptions on phones. Live refreshes keep the selected view; draft Accessibility guidance explains the keyboard controls and written chart values.
    • Fixture and pass dates consistently show UK time with GMT or BST and a 24-hour clock, including across daylight-saving changes. Browser language and timezone settings no longer replace these with labels such as GMT+0.
    • Fixture managers can now hide a game globally or schedule its release. Hidden games stay in staff tools, while viewer schedules, current pass coverage, recommendations, match pages and video access respect the setting. Imports preserve it, the lifecycle worker releases scheduled fixtures, and existing orders and audit records remain intact. Draft policies explain the effect on visibility, access and support.
    • Pass detail pages now preserve line breaks and paragraphs in descriptions, use a more readable heading and group the price with sale availability. Included broadcasts are shown in date order.
    • The multi-game pass catalogue now uses compact cards, with included fixtures on the pass detail page. Staff can announce a visible Coming soon pass separately from enabling purchases, or schedule an optional on-sale date. Draft Terms explain that announcements do not reserve access or create an order.
    • Staff now share one workspace with clearer navigation, fixture-specific live controls, broadcast and coverage tabs, and a unified viewer account and support investigation page. Selecting a fixture does not silently change the OCR source.
    • Administrators can permanently End Stream independently of full time. Video sessions and TV handoffs stop, while match details and pass history remain available; provider shutdown and staff-requested retries run in the background.
    • After coverage, viewers are thanked and shown available upcoming home broadcasts, their next home rematch and relevant multi-game passes. An optional beta survey collects separate ratings for video/audio, access, navigation and automatic statistics, with optional comments.
    • Fixture access codes can now be restricted to a verified purchaser email, including selected TicketCo purchase identifiers. These codes grant access with no additional payment; confirmations now say Access confirmed.
    • Automatic match statistics retain the available league-feed shot and faceoff totals instead of replacing them with empty review counts. Live automatic panels refresh in the background, delayed feeds keep their last available values, and post-game checks recognise disabled collection tools.
    • Draft Terms, Privacy, Support, Refund and Accessibility notices explain broadcast ending, purchaser email restrictions and optional beta surveys, including account data exports and survey retention. The revised wording remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Added the Amazon IVS playback component required by native iPhone and iPad browsers to authorise protected streams, addressing a compatibility gap that can cause repeated player 403 errors. Draft Privacy, Cookie and Support notices explain the browser component and remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Stream pages now send limited browser and player error details to support, including failures before video starts. Authorised staff can download a viewer's recent browser diagnostics from their support page to investigate problems without asking them to open developer tools. Reports exclude raw console messages, passwords and stream tokens. Draft Privacy and Support notices describe this collection and remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Stream and countdown pages now retain the browser information needed for secure sign-out, fixing logout failures for browsers that rely on it. Playback failures now show a player error code when available and a short session reference for support, without exposing stream tokens. Draft Support guidance explains the recovery steps and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Goal judge phone codes are now five easy-to-read letters and numbers. Existing longer codes remain valid until used or expired, and judge sign-in uses the site's login attempt limits. Draft Support and Accessibility guidance explains the shorter codes and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Operators can manage the site's background workers together in a local Docker stack, with connection checks, start and stop commands, and per-worker logs. Shared roster files can now use Windows vMix paths when the graphics worker runs in Docker.
    • Match-night staff can now review and edit an away roster, match warmup clips, and control its native vMix player and formation sequence from the Graphics centre. Saved revisions stay separate from on-air playback, and the Windows worker continues a run when the browser disconnects. Draft Privacy, Support and Accessibility notices explain the roster workflow and media handling.
    • The vMix scoreboard now smooths the clock throughout each period, showing MM:SS at one minute or more and tenths in the final minute. The existing OCR tolerance, stop confirmation and restart settings apply for the whole period, and staff controls now describe this behavior.
    • Prepared hosting across the rink and off-site servers, with automatic connection recovery and private shared uploads and replay clips. A replay becomes available only after its upload completes. The server-failure and 500-viewer targets still require rehearsals before launch.
    • Added tools for independent Synology recovery copies, checks for overdue or incomplete backups, and recovery procedures that reapply deletion and retention rules. The draft Privacy notice explains optional Cloudflare storage and protected backup retention.
    • Background tasks can now use active and standby workers. In the new hosting configuration, uncertain purchase and support email deliveries are held for staff review to avoid duplicate messages; passes and support cases remain recorded. The draft Support notice explains this handling and remains subject to approval.
    • TV playback now accepts the separate Amazon IVS playlist and video hosts referenced by an authorized stream, fixing a relay error that prevented AirPlay and Cast video from loading. AirPlay keeps the usual player controls. Draft Support and Accessibility guidance has been updated and remains subject to approval.
    • AirPlay and Google Cast retries can now renew TV playback on the same viewing session without a database error stopping the stream. Earlier TV links are invalidated when a replacement is issued.
    • Signed-in stream staff now receive AirPlay and Google Cast controls for IVS broadcasts once public viewing opens, rather than being restricted to browser-only playback. Test feeds and preview links clearly explain their browser-only limit. Mobile error messages now stack above Retry without clipping. Draft Terms, Support and Accessibility notices explain this change and remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • AirPlay now uses Apple’s native video controls. Moving playback to the TV no longer treats the phone’s own handoff as another device taking over; retries keep AirPlay selected, and Watch on this device restores phone playback. Draft Support and Accessibility guidance explains the controls and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • On phones, the device takeover prompt now shows readable full-width text above a large Use this device button, grows to fit its message and avoids overlapping video controls. Live-video headings are more compact. The draft Accessibility notice describes the layout and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • AirPlay now reuses the authorized opening playlist when video moves from phone to TV, preventing a second use of its one-time playback token. It also prepares the stream before a separate device-picker tap, avoiding a blocked picker and repeated session restarts. The TV button now explains browser compatibility when Google Cast is unavailable. Draft Support and Accessibility guidance explains these controls and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Match centres now have a large Watch stream button near the top, filling the width on phones, and open video on its own page instead of embedding it beside match updates. The draft Accessibility notice describes this clearer viewing journey and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Fixed a background-worker failure that blocked support inbox notifications and their retries. The draft Support policy clarifies that cases do not need a linked order or fixture.
    • Superuser accounts automatically have access to every stream without buying a pass; the home page, My Games and purchase checks now recognise that access. The draft Terms explain this administrator access and remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Site operators can now ask search engines not to index the entire site with one deployment setting; Beta keeps its existing search-indexing protection.
    • Live scores now come from the API goal feed; scoreboard OCR scores are ignored. API goals link to a uniquely matching approved goal shot from the same team and period within 10 seconds, showing its replay without a duplicate shot entry. Uncertain matches remain separate.
    • Staff Tools > Fixtures now includes Goal judge codes on each fixture, so fixture managers can generate end-specific phone codes, check sign-in status and revoke access without opening Django admin.
    • Match staff can issue one-time goal judge phone codes in admin, each locked to one fixture and rink end, with 24-hour expiry and revocation. Phones no longer show end-selection buttons. Draft Privacy and Cookie notices explain this access and its audit records.
    • Live video can now compile the Amazon IVS player's WebAssembly module when the site's Content Security Policy is enabled.
    • Live video can now start its playback worker when the site's Content Security Policy is enabled.
    • Stream restarts and device changes now send compatible session versions to Amazon IVS, with an operator recovery command for earlier failed revocations.
    • Live playback now starts and retries correctly on viewer pages where technical playback details are hidden.
    • The IVS player now automatically requests fresh playback access after an authorization error, with limited retries and clearer recovery messages. Stream-cleanup errors no longer prevent account sign-out. The draft Support policy explains playback recovery and remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Staff Games now links OCR received over the existing WebSocket to processed scoreboard output through the vMix HTTP API, with title-field mapping, a test send and delivery status. New games use manual periods, and the final minute can use a smooth countdown with adjustable OCR tolerance and stop confirmation. The replay export launcher now reports missing environment settings, respects native Windows paths and offers a configuration check without exporting clips.
    • Shots on goal now update enabled vMix shot-triggered graphics as soon as the goal judge records them, without waiting for replay review or approval.
    • Staff can now delete unused GameStats fixtures, including past imports, while fixtures with purchases, viewer access or match-night history remain protected; GameStats fixture imports now require the configured club to be the home team and always skip away games.
    • The purchase review now gives the discount-code field and redemption button the full card width when the order summary is narrow, so the code prompt remains clear and easy to use.
    • Game Review Panel access is now an email allowlist: staff enter a reviewer's address once, an existing or newly registered matching account receives every current and future broadcast automatically, revocation removes only panel access while preserving purchases and other grants, and the membership appears in the viewer's personal-data download.
    • The draft Terms and Privacy notices now explain automatic Game Review Panel account matching, access and data handling; both remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Pass listings, pass details and purchase review now show prominent Redeem discount code actions, and the code field remains visible before checkout so viewers do not have to find it inside a collapsed section.
    • Stripe webhook deliveries from other services sharing the payment account are now acknowledged quietly, so only Lightning TV payment events appear in commerce reliability and unrelated payments no longer create false failures.
    • Playback can now move securely to Google Cast or AirPlay through a same-site relay without exposing the provider stream address; one-device takeovers revoke the earlier session, while technical previews remain browser-only.
    • Registration no longer reveals whether an email already has an account: every valid submission ends signed out and shows the same result, with verification or private account-recovery guidance sent by email.
    • Verified viewers can create durable support cases with clear length and account quotas, while inbox notifications now run outside the web request and retry safely after temporary delivery failures.
    • Fan messages now have per-account and per-game queue and photo-storage limits, failed uploads are cleaned up, and messages and photos are removed after 30 days once a fixture is no longer live.
    • Match-night network connections now use deployment-locked GameStats and vMix addresses, bounded responses and no redirects, and replay files are accepted only when their resolved path remains inside the configured shared folder.
    • Rate limits, consent records, receiver binding and audit context now share one proxy-aware client address rule, and staff live sockets require the same completed two-step verification as staff web pages.
    • The draft Terms, Privacy, Cookies, Support and Accessibility notices now explain TV relay processing, one-device enforcement, fan-photo retention, verified support access and email-first registration; the wording remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Games are now identified by both teams and the fixture date throughout staff, commerce and graphics tools, making similarly named games easier to distinguish.
    • My Passes now uses compact fixture cards with small artwork thumbnails, so viewers can scan their live, upcoming and completed broadcasts without oversized images taking over the page.
    • Commerce now fetches the live ICE Account CSV of season-customer stream-release codes at startup and once per hour without requiring the unrelated IVS playback key, matches each event to the sole broadcast on its date without trusting the provider's event name, and upserts only new or changed codes without appending duplicates or repeated confirmation audits; staff can still preview imports while credentials and unnecessary email and seat details stay out of code records.
    • The draft Privacy notice now explains which ICE Account stream-release fields are received, which details are retained for discount operations and which supplied contact and seat details are discarded; the wording remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Replay clips now keep moving through short match-night backlogs: the Windows vMix worker recovers interrupted jobs immediately after a restart, prevents duplicate workers, keeps reporting its heartbeat during FFmpeg work, bounds background housekeeping, retries source files for the configured wait period and cannot let a closed review block the whole queue.
    • Goal judges now have separate Goal, Undo and Shot on Goal controls, an updated quick guide and a one-time Get started prompt when they arrive after signing in.
    • The Graphics Command Centre now loads configured data sources with a fixed number of database queries and batches rapid live-status updates, keeping the match-night controls responsive as graphics and delivery history grow.
    • The home-page spotlight and game schedule now make each fixture date much easier to spot and use viewing-focused actions for live and upcoming broadcasts.
    • Registration, help and draft policy wording now describe the open account journey without legacy beta-access terminology.
    • Goal graphics can now map each assist's given name, family name and playing position as separate website data sources.
    • Goal graphics can now map the scoring team's first and final name words separately, such as Rostock or Lightning.
    • Combined graphics fields now use their fallback when every embedded website value is empty, instead of treating fixed punctuation such as a number sign as data.
    • The graphics event sandbox now has a focused event-type workflow, complete editable capture attributes for every supported event, fixture-wide player selectors, and a separate full player-and-roster creator with headshots and GameStats metadata.
    • A single vMix GT field can now receive several ordered updates, so operators can send its text first and then apply text colour or other formatting without a duplicate-field error.
    • Automatically shown vMix graphics can now have a per-source on-screen timer; the graphics worker removes the overlay with its configured transition without blocking other updates and retries temporary removal failures.
    • Graphics operators can now create private, fully detailed goal, penalty, faceoff, shot, stoppage and note events in a streaming-off fixture, test live-only automatic triggers without starting a stream, and clear the isolated sandbox history afterward.
    • Each graphics data source can now choose its preferred scoring-team logo variant once and map the stable selected-logo value, making logo changes independent of the vMix field configuration.
    • Graphics field mappings can now combine several live website values with fixed text in one safe composition, with placeholder validation and the finished vMix text shown in the live preview.
    • Graphics staff can now import and maintain reusable league team names, colours and local vMix logo paths from CSV, add or remove custom team fields, and map each value for home, away, scoring or triggered teams.
    • The commerce dashboard and every pass, order, refund, discount, import, reliability and settings workspace now share a calmer operations layout with compact summaries, consistent navigation, clearer tables and forms, and safer placement for high-impact refund actions across desktop and mobile.
    • Superusers can now create reusable staff roles, edit every built-in role and choose its complete permission baseline from People and Access; role changes apply immediately to assigned accounts and remain available in access impersonation.
    • Staff access managers can assign any configured role to an account while retaining additive per-user permission exceptions, and the default Viewer role carries a clear warning before permissions are granted across normal accounts.
    • The draft Privacy notice now explains that personal-data access is controlled through named roles and account-specific exceptions, with role definitions restricted to superusers; it remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
  4. Version 1.5.0-beta.8

VAT-inclusive pricing, live vMix graphics and access testing

    Revision cb715d3
    • Superusers can now impersonate any staff role and additive permission configuration in their current browser session, with a persistent warning and one-click restore while every real action remains attributed to their superuser account.
    • Pass prices entered by staff are now the final VAT-inclusive prices: Stripe calculates any VAT contained in the price instead of adding it at checkout, while confirmations and commerce operations show the resulting VAT breakdown.
    • The draft Terms of Sale now explain VAT-inclusive catalogue pricing and remain subject to legal and organisational approval.
    • Match-night staff now have a live Graphics Command Centre where reusable vMix titles can map website data to exact GT text, image and colour fields, be tested before activation and show every queued, sent, retrying or failed update as it happens.
    • Graphics administrators can now manage the module's vMix API address, shared image folders, timeouts and retry behaviour from a dedicated settings page instead of relying only on deployment configuration.
    • Automatic graphics can now react to specific approved game-sheet events—including penalties, faceoffs, shots, clock stoppages and notes—with event-specific website fields plus fixture, live-only and home/away conditions available for each vMix mapping.
    • Graphics setup is now split into a calmer command overview, a data-source preview and focused field pages, so staff can see current website values and the exact output prepared for vMix before sending a test.
    • Graphics workers in the production, Alpha and Beta deployment stacks now receive the protected IVS playback-signing key file required by the shared application configuration.
    • Every configured graphic now has its own stable JSON data endpoint showing the latest mapped values and complete vMix command plan, with the configured graphic/input ID applied consistently to every command.
    • Goal graphics can now update automatically from either confirmed site events or new GameStats goals, sending a consistent scorer, assists, shirt number, period, clock, score, team branding, logo and headshot snapshot through a retrying vMix worker without slowing match controls.
    • The site now keeps stable league player records and fixture rosters linked to GameStats identities, preserves historical goal text, reliably connects scorer and assist records, and lets authorised staff maintain player headshots that GameStats refreshes do not overwrite.
    • The draft Privacy notice now explains the player, roster and headshot information used for match statistics and broadcast graphics, how it reaches vMix and viewers, and how long it is kept; it remains subject to legal and organisational approval.
  5. Version 1.5.0-beta.7

    Pass administration and opponent polish

    Revision 53acc63
    • People and Access now switches between focused staff and viewer directories, with a dedicated account-management page for identity, status, access summaries, staff roles and permission exceptions without mixing in support diagnostics.
    • Staff can now manage the viewer service notice in its own Settings section, choose its message and accent colour, keep it visible across viewer pages until disabled, and send a 10-second countdown alert over full-screen and cast video feeds.
    • Long viewer and staff record lists now have clear item counts, numbered pages and mobile-friendly previous and next controls, while active filters remain in place as staff move between pages.
    • The Account page now presents the optional marketing-email preference as a clear choice card, with an at-a-glance status, simpler save action and a separate explanation of essential service emails.
    • Fixture, pass-purchase and match-centre pages now use each configured opponent's colours for subtle edge accents and background gradients, while Lightning gold and live-status red remain the primary interface colours.
    • Multi-game passes now have a clear 1080 × 1080 artwork upload in pass administration, with the image displayed in compact pass cards on the home page, pass store and purchase details.
    • When only one upcoming game is listed, the home-page schedule now keeps its card and artwork compact on larger screens while retaining a clear full-width layout on mobile.
    • When a game finishes, every single-game pass linked to it is now taken off sale automatically and shown as finished and off sale in pass administration; multi-game passes remain available, and the draft Terms clarify the effect on existing orders.
    • Staff Tools now links directly to discount-code CSV upload; the importer asks for a fixture first, defaults to the next scheduled game and limits the selector to future fixtures.
    • Pass setup now shows only the scope needed for the selected pass type: season passes no longer ask for individual games, opponent bundles use one opposing-team choice, and individual games have a clearer checkbox-card picker.
    • Opponent bundles now automatically include every existing and later production game involving the selected team; the draft Terms describe this additional access and remain subject to approval.
  6. Version 1.5.0-beta.6

    Beta deployment and access hardening

    Revision e1f44e9
    • The Beta stack now exposes the application directly to the separately managed ingress instead of bundling an additional Nginx proxy and duplicate web container.
    • Container health checks now supply the configured public hostname and recognise their trusted internal HTTPS proxy, preventing healthy web services from being rejected by host validation or an internal HTTPS redirect.
    • The Beta Test-stream input now uses rink-LAN port 1936, avoiding the Alpha input already listening on port 1935 when both stacks share a host.
    • Beta startup and migrations now receive the protected IVS playback-signing file, while the web and fixture-lifecycle services can use the existing certificate-based AWS identity for dynamic channel operations.
    • Beta branch builds now publish the dedicated stream-beta container tag, and the Beta deployment example uses that image instead of an Alpha build.
    • Beta deployment setup now has a censored checklist for legal approvals, public support details, retention decisions and alerting, while Amazon IVS channels continue to be created dynamically for each fixture.
    • Registration is now open to everyone; viewers still verify their email before buying a pass, and paid video still requires a valid order, discount redemption or staff-granted entitlement.
    • Legacy beta memberships and stream codes have been retired, while accounts, purchases and any independently valid viewing access are preserved.
    • Staff access now combines clear match-night roles with granular permissions, so each person can receive only the fixture, broadcast, review, commerce, support or administration tools they need.
    • Staff with an existing two-step verification credential must now complete that second-factor check before opening setup, and confirmed authenticator secrets or recovery codes are never displayed again.
    • Staff setting up two-step verification can now scan a QR code with their authenticator app or use the manual setup key.
    • Older staff-only viewing grants are now revoked reliably on PostgreSQL when roles or permissions change, without blocking account creation or staff-access updates.
    • The staff tools home now prioritises the live game, then the next fixture, so match-night controls do not point staff at a newer finished game.
    • Account, game and pass pages now use shorter guidance, clearer actions, calmer layouts and simpler navigation on desktop and mobile.
    • Live playback-session and telemetry requests now use the configured shared-cache limits and fail closed when that protection is unavailable in paid environments.
    • Season passes now track a named season and automatically include every production game assigned to it, granting audited access to existing purchasers when later fixtures are added; manual fixtures store an entered season while GameStats imports use their configured season.
    • The draft Terms, Refund and Support notices now explain that tracked season passes include production games added to the season after purchase at no extra charge.
    • The draft Terms, Privacy, Refund, Support and Accessibility notices now explain multi-game code eligibility, per-fixture redemption records, allocated prices and the pass-access checkout wording before the feature is approved for release.
